Active Bans / Moratoriums

Indiana HB 1333 passed the House 54-45 (February 2026) but stalled in the Senate Utilities Committee; the controversial 'permitted use' farmland provision was explicitly rejected. The core 1% revenue-sharing provision was folded into HB 1210, which was enacted into law. On May 4-14, 2026 the Indianapolis City-County Council unanimously passed a non-binding resolution (Proposal 158) urging the Metropolitan Development Commission to pause data center approvals until May 7, 2027 or until tighter rules are adopted; the MDC is expected to discuss draft special development standards at its June 3, 2026 meeting.
